About PrescribeIT® Quebec

The PrescribeIT® Quebec project replaces missed phone calls and misplaced faxes with secure electronic communication directly into your electronic medical record (EMR). This project covers three processes:

  1. ➡️ Transmission of an electronic prescription (prescription, renewal, cancellation) for any type of medication between the prescriber's EMR and the information system of the patient's pharmacy.
  2. 🔃 Management of an electronic prescription renewal request from the pharmacy to the prescriber in the EMR.
  3. 🗨️ Electronic messaging between the prescriber and the pharmacy, and automatic association of these communications with the patient record.

🚩 Gradual roll-out functionality
PrescribeIT® Quebec is being rolled out in waves of gradual additions of pharmacies and clinics, in a provincially planned sequence, in collaboration with involved regions and suppliers. Our team will contact the person in charge of your institution to plan your enrolment in PrescribeIT® when the time comes.

Health professionals concerned

All prescribers with autonomous prescribing rights: physicians, FMG pharmacists, nurse practitioners, nurses and residents.

Avantages

  • Faxed prescriptions arrive at the pharmacy as images. The details must then be interpreted by the pharmacist and manually entered into the pharmacy information system, which can lead to transcription errors.
  • Electronic prescriptions transmitted byPrescribeIT® are sent as structured data. The details they contain are automatically imported into the pharmacy software. Transcription errors are thus avoided, helping to reduce the risk of medication errors and improve patient safety.
  • Unlike paper or faxed prescriptions, electronic prescriptions can only be viewed by the prescriber and the patient's pharmacy. As a result, the confidentiality of patients' personal health information and the drugs they are prescribed is significantly enhanced.
